Bridgerton's Lady Danbury actress says 'sensuous' season 2 is 'a lot more forbidden'

Bridgerton actress Adjoa Andoh has teased what fans can expect from season two of the hit Netflix series.

The second instalment of the much-loved period drama lands on the streaming service on March 25, and will focus on a new family as well as a new romance.

Ahead of the season two release date, Adjoa - who plays Lady Danbury - appeared on Thursday's Loose Women to chat to the ladies about what drama lies ahead in the new episodes.

Asked about the alleged lack of sex scenes in season two, 59-year-old Adjoa replied: "I think last season's nookie was architecturally graphic in many respects.

"You know there was some of us when we got to episode six, or episode sex as it was called it in my house, we'd be going, 'right I can go and put the kettle on now!'"

She continued: "So it's differently sexy this season. It's sort of sensuous and a lot more forbidden. So when you do get the climax, you get the climax!"

Katie Piper then asked if viewers will see Lady Danbury experience romance in season two.

"Oh my God, I would love Lady Danbury to have a love interest!" Adjoa replied.

"Just because you're over fifty does not mean that you don't still... you know.... the blood still heats and there are juices flowing, and we all want a bit of life and excitement.

"So I would hope that's is still to come, Lady Danbury is certainly up for it!" she joked.

Her comments come after Bridgerton writer Chris Van Dusen said fans should not be put off by the lack of sex in the new series.

Ahead of the second season arriving on Netflix on Friday, Van Dusen said: "It was never about quantity for us. Our approach to intimacy on the show is the same as in season one - we use these scenes to push a story forward.

"We’ve never done a sex scene for the sake of doing a sex scene and I don’t think we ever will."

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12:30pm on ITV and ITV Hub.
