Bridgerton fans book the day off work as Netflix drops series 3 part 2

Bridgerton fans eagerly took the day off work as Netflix released the second part of the third season on Thursday.

Viewers reported staying up late into the night, catching only a few hours of sleep, as they watched the cast at the red carpet premiere and counted down to the 8am release.

Fans have been anticipating the continuation of Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton's love story for a month.

The upcoming installment promises to be steamy, with Nicola Coughlan, 37, and Luke Newton, 31, ahead of their characters on-screen intimate scenes.

Excited fans flooded X, formerly Twitter, to share their plans, with some arranging time off work in advance to binge-watch the next four episodes.

Bridgerton season three part two dropped on Netflix

One enthused fan wrote: “Dearest Gentle Reader, you don't have to show up at work today, as our Queen has decreed that this part of the season belongs to the employees.”

“Less than 2 hours to go before the release of Bridgerton S3 Part 2!” another penned. “I only had 3 hours of sleep 'coz I stayed up until the wee hours of the morning to watch the red carpet premier and advance streaming of Ep5. Not really sleepy because of excitement! Didn't go to work for this!”

Echoing their sentiments, a third commented: “In one hour we will have Pen and Colin madly in love, having sex, getting married and living happily ever after (yeah yeah with all the Whistledown mess). We made it guys, we waited two years but we made it.”

“I wanna take off work to binge watch Bridgerton tomorrow,” another shared.

A viewer quipped: “Once again, we're expected to work when Bridgerton is out?' and 'In one hour we will have Pen and Colin madly in love, having sex, getting married and living happily ever after (yeah with all the Whistledown mess).

“We made it guys, we waited two years but we made it.”

Season three, part one of Bridgerton premiered last month, and fans eagerly dove into the romantic escapades of the Regency era.

The series has returned stronger than ever, garnering an impressive 45.1 million views within just four days of its global release on Netflix, according to What's On Netflix.

This season focuses on the much-anticipated romance between Penelope and Colin, though their journey from friends to lovers unfolds gradually. Part One concluded on a cliffhanger: after Colin asked Penelope marry him - but he is yet to learn of her secret, that she is behind the local gossip-monger, Lady Whistledown.

Despite fans’ excitement, The Standard’s Vicky Jessop was less than impressed with the second installment, giving it just two stars.
