Brides could save €1,600 by renting dresses on big day, says wedding planner

A wedding planner has urged cost conscious brides to consider renting their dresses amid the cost of living crisis.

Claudia Postigo from wedding site The Planner Co has compiled advice for couples attempting to cut costs on their big day. The wedding planner explained that renting a dress can be a game changer for wedding budgets, as well as offering sustainability on the big day.

Brides can save as much as €1,600 by going down the rental route. It typically costs only €100 to rent a wedding dress, while buying a gown instead averages out at approximately €1,700.

Claudia explained: "Brides can achieve some big cost-savings when renting their wedding elements at the same time as making their wedding more sustainable."

Although many brides may not want to part with the idea of their own dress, people can still make sustainability a part of their wedding day in other ways. Claudia suggested that people use online resources such as Recycle Your Wedding to get second hand decorations, which prove lighter on the purse strings.

People could also save as much as €1,000 by opting to send their invitations by e-invites. The cost of designing and printing wedding invitations quickly piles up, especially if couples have the added cost of posting them abroad.
