A woman has received mixed reactions online after posting a video clip from her wedding day. The bride, whose name is Kelsey, got married on the dreamy village of islands called Islamorada in the Florida Keys, US.
Kelsey posted video clips on her TikTok account of her breathtaking wedding, where she could be seeing wearing an elegant, white dress.
However, it was what the bridesmaids wore that captured the attention of social media users. The bride posted a video dedicated to her seven bridesmaids on the video sharing app, with the caption: "My bridesmaids killed it."
In the video, the relaxed bride explained that her bridesmaids were trusted to pick their own dresses to suit their style, and there were no rules. Viewers could first see all the bridesmaids, and the bride, in matching pyjamas – followed by their actual wedding outfits.
All the bridesmaids chose floor-length dresses in different colours, with various styles and colours from mustard yellow to hot pink. Some wore halter necks, while others had only one-shoulder. Some were tight-fitted, while others were flowy with ruffles.
The video clip turned out to be quite controversial, however, with some people saying it made it look like they were at a prom rather than a wedding.
One person wrote: "This looks like prom pics.. I love the idea but I'm just getting high school flashbacks I'm sorry!".
A second said: "It's giving 2009 prom."
Another said: "I can't believe there were seven girls and none thought it would be a good idea to do a similar vibe or coordinate."
However, some people liked that the girls were all wearing different styles.
One person shared: "Am I the only person who likes this? It's tropical and different."
Another said: "Am I the only one that loves this? I hate how uniform and stiff most bridal parties look."
A third added: "Not sure why everyone's so mad. It's her wedding. If she's happy, that's all that matters."
Sometimes brides like to have more control of what their bridesmaids are wearing. At another wedding, a bride banned her friends from wearing heels and fake lashes so that she would look best.
Stretching it even further, another bride said she wanted to ask her sister to shave her armpit hair before the wedding because it could be seen in her bridesmaid dress.
