The city of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, has fired police chief Larry Scirotto less than a year after hiring him, claiming he discriminated against white people in hiring and promotions. The city hired a law firm to investigate multiple complaints against Scirotto of discrimination less than three months after he was hired. According to a report compiled by the law firm, Scirotto refused to consider a white man with 20 years on the force for a position, instead focusing on two men of color, and asking, "which one is blacker." Scirotto denied asking which one was blacker. But he admitted pointing to a wall with photos of the department's command staff and saying, "that wall is too white," and "I'm gonna change that." Scirotto said he plans to file a wrongful termination lawsuit.
