Brianna Ghey's family thank strangers after transforming her bedroom

Brianna Ghey's family have thanked kind-hearted strangers for their donations in the teenager's memory.

A message posted by the 16-year-old's family on a GoFundMe page in her memory thanked people for their "overwhelming generosity". The fundraising page has raised more than £100,000.

Brianna's family said thanks to the donations they have been able to transform her room into a space where they "can sit and remember her". Money donated to the family has also been used towards her funeral and to buy cremation jewellery for the whole family.

In an update on the page, her family said: "Thank you all for your support during this incredibly difficult time. The kindness shown has been a comfort, and we are so grateful for everyone who has donated in Brianna’s memory.

"Because of the overwhelming generosity, we have used funds raised for the funeral. Brianna had white horses with pink feathers and a white carriage, something that celebrates her incredible spirit. As well as this, we are going to buy cremation jewellery for the whole family to keep Brianna close to us forever.

"I have spent the past few weeks decorating Brianna's room, turning it into a space where we can sit and remember her. Thanks to all of you, I have not had to worry about the cost of anything and it's exactly how myself and Brianna's sister want it. I need to do some finishing touches but I will post some pictures when this is complete."

The family have also donated some of the money to the Mindfulness in Schools Project MiSP, a UK charity to train teachers up in as many local schools as possible to improve the mental health of children. They thanked people once again for their kindness and keeping Brianna in their thoughts.

Brianna, 16, was stabbed to death in Culcheth Linear Park, Warrington, on Saturday, February 11. Her funeral took place on March 15 at St Elphin’s Church in Warrington.

Vigils have previously been held across the country for Brianna, with hundreds of people gathered near St George's Hall in Liverpool city centre on the Tuesday after her death .

A trial date for two teenagers - a boy and a girl, both 15 - who are accused of Brianna's murder has been set for July 10 and is estimated to last three weeks.
