Brianna Ghey funeral date confirmed as mourners asked to wear pink

A date has been set for the funeral of schoolgirl Brianna Ghey.

The 16-year-old trans teenager was discovered on Saturday, February 11, with multiple stab wounds on a path in Culcheth's Linear Park. On the day she died the "larger-than-life" character had spoken to her mum and a video was posted to her TikTok account only hours before she was killed. The teenager was found dead by members of the public in the Warrington Park.

A trial date for two teenagers - a boy and a girl, both 15 - who are accused of Brianna's murder has been set for July 10 and is estimated to last three weeks.

Now, it has been announced the funeral of the year 11 Birchwood High School pupil will take place on Wednesday, March 15.

A social media post confirmed Brianna's funeral will be held at St Elphin's Parish Church, Warrington, with the service set to begin at 2.45pm.

Confirming the date and time of the service, the post also asked mourners to wear pink. Following Brianna's death, a GoFundMe was set up to help the Ghey family with funeral costs. The fundraiser aimed to help make the funeral "pink and colourful" to match Brianna's personality.

Brianna's family previously described her as a "much-loved daughter, granddaughter and baby sister" and thanked her friends for their support in a tribute to her.

They said: "She was a larger-than-life character who would leave a lasting impression on all that met her. Brianna was beautiful, witty and hilarious. Brianna was strong, fearless and one of a kind.

"The loss of her young life has left a massive hole in our family, and we know that the teachers and her friends who were involved in her life will feel the same. We would like to thank everyone for their kind words and support during this extremely difficult time
