If you’ve been scrolling through social media lately, you might have noticed that Brianna (LaPaglia) ChickenFry and Zach Bryan have officially joined the ranks of celebrity breakups that we never knew we needed to know about.
The internet is buzzing with theories, memes, and a sprinkle of good ol’ drama. So, what really went down between these two?
Okay, but who are these people?
If you have no idea who these people are but are just along for the ride, welcome! Let me give you a quick rundown. We have Zach Bryan, a 28-year-old country singer. He’s also known as the guy who compared Taylor Swift to Kanye West in what he claims was a drunk tweet.
In the other corner, we have Brianna LaPaglia, aka Brianna ChickenFry. Yes, you read that right – ChickenFry. The 25-year-old earned her poultry-inspired moniker from a viral Vine (RIP) and has since become an influencer and Barstool Sports podcaster. She co-hosts the Plan Bri Uncut and the BFFs Podcast with Barstool founder Dave Portnoy, who dedicated Taylor Swift’s “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived” to LaPaglia post-breakup. Never thought I’d say a move from a male podcaster was iconic.
Zach and Brianna met at the Academy of Country Music Awards in May 2023 and Brianna confirmed their relationship in July of that year and they’ve been obsessed with each other ever since. Well ’til now.
Anywho, now that we’re all caught up, let’s get into the deets of their split.
Why did Zach Bryan and Brianna ChickenFry breakup?
Zach took to Instagram to share the news of their breakup on October 22. His statement was as heartfelt as it was cryptic: “Brianna and me have broken up with each other and I respect and love her with every ounce of my heart.”
He added a sprinkle of self-reflection by admitting he’s “not perfect” and expressed regret for letting people down: “I failed people that love me and mostly myself”.
Meanwhile, Brianna was took to the internet to share how left “blindsided” she felt. In an emotional YouTube video titled “Love you guys, I’ll be back soon”, she revealed that the breakup happened on October 21 — the same day she posted a cryptic note on Instagram about how “life goes on, even if you don’t want it to”.
Through tears, she questioned how you can love someone “unconditionally, through stuff that you shouldn’t”, only to feel “discarded in a matter of days”.
She went on to say that’ll she’ll share what happened soon, but for now just wants to “be upset for a week and stay in bed”. So fair girly, the breakup bed rot is sacred.
She also expressed gratitude for her followers’ support: “I love you guys so much thank you for all of your kind words. Remember you are so loved and everything’s always gonna be okay.”
What are the Zach Bryan Raya rumours?
It was giving standard internet breakup until rumours started circulating that Zach was spotted on Raya — the exclusive dating app for celebrities — right around the time of their split.
According US Weekly, Zach’s profile popped up on the app even before they officially called it quits. This led to internet sleuths speculating whether he started swiping immediately after, or maybe even during their relationship.
The same reports claim that Brianna received screenshots of his profile during their relationship but Zach denied any infidelity while agreeing that breaking up might be for the best.
