I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! star Brian Paddick 's late husband was sharing snaps on social media and enjoying a holiday just days before dying suddenly.
Petter Belsvik was "found peacefully alone, with no cause of death immediately apparent" in his Norway home his husband Brian announced to fans on Monday morning.
Over the weekend Petter posted some images of "brutalist snow" in Oslo after sharing some pictures from a trip to South Africa earlier this month, with his final Instagram posts coming just days before his husband's heartbreaking announcement at the start of this week.
Liberal Democrat peer Brian, 64, took to Twitter to share the sad news, writing: "My beautiful, loving husband, Petter Belsvik, has died suddenly at our home in Oslo. He was found peacefully alone, with no cause of death immediately apparent.
"It will take some time to establish what happened. We were devoted to each other & I am devastated."
Just three days ago, Petter, a civil engineer from Oslo, was active on social media as he shared a wintery scene taken close to his home in Norway's capital.
Captioning his final Instagram post - a snap of a building covered in snow, Petter wrote: "Brutalist snow [love heart emoji] #erlingviksjø #pilestredet #brutalistarchitecture #oslove."
Earlier this month posted some updates from Cape Town, South Africa with his 1029 followers on Instagram - captioning one sunny selfie: "glorious."
Petter's last public picture with husband Brian came in October 2022, as the former politician shared a snap of himself and Petter posing in front of a helicopter outside Hilo International Airport.
"The Sun newspaper published a headline when I appeared naked on a reality tv show," Brain captioned the shot 21 weeks ago. "So here’s a re-run of ‘The Copper with the Chopper’!"
Brian, who was a contestant on the eighth series of I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! in 2008, met Peter in a bar while on holiday in Ibiza - going on to tie the knot in Norway 8 days on from the country legalising same-sex marriage in January 2009.
Speaking about how they met, Brian told the Daily Mail in 2009: "I was minding my own business on holiday in Ibiza when I met Petter. Inevitably, it was my last day and having spent just 24 hours together we parted with me believing I would never see him again."
He went on to explain that there was a "divine intervention" when Madonna was playing at Wembley Arena and Petter would be in town to see her live.
Brian recalled offering Petter a place to stay at his home in order to save on extortionate hotel costs – a "gamble" which he says paid off.
As Brian shared his devastating news on Twitter on Monday, fans and celebrity pals rushed to comfort the grieving star.
"My dear Brian, this is truly tragic news. All my thoughts are with you. Stay strong xxx," Sky News presenter replied to Brian's tweet announcing Petter's death.
Loose Women presenter Charlene White added: "Oh my goodness Brian, I’m so so sorry … sending you and the family my love xx."
Former Leader of the Liberal Democrats Tim Farron wrote: "Oh Brian, I am so so sorry."
Edwina Currie quote-tweeted Brian's announcement and added: "Brian so sorry to read this.
"No words can replace the one you love."
Since sharing the news of Petter's death, Brian has updated his Twitter bio to pay tribute to his late husband.
The former reality TV star's bio now reads: "Lib Dem Spokesperson on Home Affairs in House of Lords. Ran for Mayor of London 2008 & 2012. Metropolitan Police 1976-2007. Widower to Mr Petter Belsvik. He/him."
Brian also shared a screenshot of his tweet on his Instagram Story on Monday morning.
