Brian May reveals he 'couldn’t get a fork from the table to my mouth' after 'scary' stroke

Brian May has revealed the full extent of the mini stroke he suffered last year and says it has taken "sheer willpower" to recover.

The legendary Queen guitarist, 77, announced he had suffered a health emergency in a video posted to social media last September.

He told fans in the clip that he had lost control of his arm after a “minor stroke”.

While he brushed it off at the time as a “health hiccup”, he has now admitted it was actually “scary”.

“I couldn’t get a fork from the table to my mouth without it all going all over the place,” he recalled. “It was scary.”

The Bohemiam Rhapsody hit-maker’s recovery was fortunately quick and could have been a lot worse.

“After only a few days, it’s amazing what you can get back. By sheer willpower, you just start retraining your muscle,” he told Premier Guitar magazine.

Assuring his health is now "good", he said he estimates he has regained 95% of his abilities and says that “is enough.

In January, his wife Anita Dobson, 75, described his condition as “stable” and said he was “taking each day as it comes”.

The EastEnders and Doctor Who actress - who has been married to the musician since 2000 - told The Sun that the health scare had reminded her that “life is precious”.

“It makes you realise that at any minute it could be you. You don’t have to necessarily be old, it could be anyone,” she added.

She also told the publication that her other half had “never been happier” since they relocated from London to the countryside.

“To see what it has done to Brian... he loves it. He loves the birds and the animals” she said.

“He feeds the birds and the badgers, foxes and pheasants. It’s like running a pub for animals.”
