Brian Graham in Partick Thistle siege mentality call ahead of play-off

Brian Graham has called on Partick Thistle to adopt a siege mentality as they head into their play-off double-header against Ayr United.

The Jags striker admits he's still angry about the club's relegation to League One during the Coronavirus pandemic.

The 35-year-old insists the wounds of the inflicted punishment still hurt.

But with the chance to reach the Premiership over the coming weeks, the on-form hitman says it provides Thistle with the chance to "stick two fingers up to everyone who shafted us".

Thistle were one of the sides, along with Hearts and Stranraer, who were bottom of their respective leagues when it was decided the season would have to end prematurely due to the spread of the virus.

They've already comfortably beaten Queen's Park to progress to the play-off semi-finals, where they will take on Ayr.

And the winner of that tie will play 11th spot in the Premiership for a place in next season's top flight.

Graham said: "If we can go and do it, it would be fantastic. Especially because of the number of things that have happened to me in my time at Partick Thistle.

"It's not been plain sailing and we've had bumps along the way - unfairly relegated. Now, we find ourselves in a position where we're fighting to get into the Premiership.

"It's been a rollercoaster journey but it's one that I'm relishing and went to keep going.

"I think there's growing anger that you want to prove people wrong. I think we did that when we won League One and now we want to go one better and shove two fingers up to everyone that shafted us."
