Brian Cox reveals details of chilling ghost encounter in Edinburgh that left him hiding under covers

Scots actor Brian Cox has replayed the terrifying moment he had an encounter with a ghost in Edinburgh which had him hiding under the covers.

Cox, 76, said that he witnessed paranormal activity in the Scots capital when he was learning his trade as an actor, Edinburgh Live reports.

The star explained the story in an appearance on ITV's The Jonathan Ross Show, which will be aired on Saturday night.

He said: “I went to bed one night. There was a chair right next to the dresser. Suddenly there is this rocking sound and the chair started to rock across the room… And then it stopped there.

“I got myself right under my covers… I woke up in the morning and the chair was still here and the floor was covered in these scratch marks.”

Cox also chatted about the much anticipated fourth and final series of the award-winning drama Succession, which begins on Sky Atlantic from March 27, the Evening Standard reports.

He said: “It’s a rollercoaster. There’s a lot of stuff in it… I still can’t work it out.

“There’s been a remarkable closeness with all of us. I don’t really mind the show ending, but it’s the people, the folk. The crew, the wonderful camera operators… It’s the whole shebang. The whole lot. It’s the best thrill in the world, sad when it’s over.”

He added: “I think it’s going to be difficult for people. They become so addicted to the show.

“They don’t know why they like it as much as they do, there’s a lot of hateful people… that’s what audiences like, that horribleness of people.”

The Jonathan Ross Show airs Saturday and 9:40pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
