Brian Cody is reportedly on the verge of a return to management with his home side James Stephens for the upcoming season.
The Kilkenny hurling legend stood down from his position as Cats manager following their loss to Limerick in last year's All-Ireland final after 24 years in charge. However, he didn't stay away for long.
James Stephens GAA club recruited Cody as a selector under the stewardship of manager Seamus Dwyer. He helped them to the Kilkenny SHC final where they lost to Ballyhale Shamrocks who won the competition for the 5th time in-a-row.

Instead of taking things easy he has now decided to resurrect his management career and return to his home side 'Village' according to the Irish Independent. This will be his second spell as manager following a stint in the 1990's.
Cody will be without two star names in Diarmuid, his son, and Conor Browne, who will both spend 2023 away travelling but his imminent appointment will surely add a layer of intrigue into this years Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship.
He is likely to come up against a former player in defender Brian Hogan who was recently appointed manager of Kilkenny city rivals O'Loughlin Gaels. He may well also be looking on with interest as his county successor Derek Lyng takes charge of his first Cats match against Offaly on Sunday in the Walsh Cup.
