Bo Nix became the Denver Broncos’ first pick in the 2024 NFL draft as the 12th overall selection in April. Usually, a first-round pick gets drafted to contribute or start right away. It makes sense that NFL Network’s Brian Baldinger has predicted Nix will take over for the recently departed Russell Wilson and become the Broncos’ starting quarterback for the 2024 season.
In a recent interview on DNVR Broncos, Baldinger broke down how he believes Broncos coach Sean Payton will handle the quarterback competition. Payton won’t just give Nix the job, allowing for a competition to play out and letting the team see how the competition will fare. This element of competition adds an exciting and unpredictable dimension to the upcoming season. However, Baldinger believes that Nix will win out in the end.
“My guess [is] that Bo will win that competition,” Baldinger said.

Nix arrived in Denver with a 77.4% completion rate that set a single-season NCAA record last fall. Nix is set to battle it out with Jarrett Stidham and Zach Wilson this summer. We have a feeling Baldinger is right — Nix is the obvious favorite to win the QB1 job in 2024.
