A Nottinghamshire brewery has made the 'tough decision' to close down after struggling with cost rises. The Totally Brewed brewery, based in Meadow Lane, announced on Sunday, March 12 that it will be closing due to "massive increases in costs".
In a statement, these cost rises were attributed to factors including Brexit and the war in Ukraine. The brewer's micro pub in Beeston, Totally Tapped, will continue to trade as a stand-alone venue, but will be exchanging the Totally Brewed lines for local breweries.
In a Facebook post, Totally Brewed said: "We've made the tough decision to close the doors at the brewery. It's taken much deliberation, however, we've ended up with little choice in the end due to a number of factors coming together to make trading very hard.

"Pre-Covid, everything was brilliant but since lockdown, we've struggled to recover. We were optimistic that things will get better at some point but more and more hurdles have got in the way."
The statement went on to say that sales had picked up to normal levels but 'massive increases in costs due to Brexit', war and mistakes by the Government 'meant that the goalposts have shifted beyond our means'. The statement added: "We've also taken a few financial hits from pubs and bottle shops closing down due to the same cost implications."
The brewery's popular micropub in Beeston, which was set up six-and-a-half years ago, recently relocated. The success of the micropub was mentioned in the statement, as well as the "incredible" work of brewery staff.
The announcement added: "We've had a great time over the last 10 years Brewing nearly 1,000 batches of beer. The staff have been incredible. Their commitment and quality of work has been excellent and not a fair reflection of the position we have found ourselves in.
"Our micro pub in Beeston, Totally Tapped, is doing brilliantly and will continue to operate as a stand-alone venue. We'll simply be exchanging the Totally Brewed lines for local breweries.
"It's been a blast. We've made great friends along the way and had incredible support from so many people. We wouldn't have made it this far without you guys."
