BrewDog opens 'UK's biggest bar' with slide, 'Zoom room', and ice cream van

BrewDog has opened - what it claims is - the UK's "biggest bar" - featuring a slide, "Zoom room", and an ice cream van.

The huge bar has the capacity to hold up to 1,775 people - with some visitors saying it's like visiting an airport lounge rather than a brewery.

At 26,500sq ft, the bar in central London, which is a short walk from Waterloo station, has ping pong tables, a bowling alley, and a 10ft spiral slide.

Social media users mocked BrewDog fans for thinking it was "too good for Wetherspoons" - and others poked-fun at the size of the new bar.

One said: "The entertaining new BrewDog Waterloo bar; it's like an airport."

Another added: "I've always stringently avoided pubs that don't have podcast studios so it's good to see my tastes finally being catered to in central London."

One predicted: "The big beer companies are going to start buying up big Ikeas and doing this."

The huge BrewDog bar is spread over two floors, with 60 different taps and an on-site brewhouse.

It also has co-working spaces called 'Zoom Rooms' and a podcast studio for content creators.

The bar is twice the size of the company's previous largest location, DogTap Columbus in Ohio, and is bigger than Wetherspoons' largest pub - the Royal Pavilion in Ramsgate, Kent.

The enormous venue will also offer 200 jobs and has paired up with Rich Woods, known as The Cocktail Guy, to set up a cocktail bar - called the Lost Property Office.

James Watt, Captain of BrewDog, said: "London has supported us since the very beginning, so whether you live in the capital, work in the city or are just visiting, get ready for the biggest BrewDog Bar on Earth. Minutes from the landmarks, moments from the platforms, great beer and food are seconds away.

"This is one of our most exciting bar creations and a true reflection to where our brand is heading. Wait for your train as you sip a bar exclusive beer, brewed onsite, Trainspotter."
