Brewdog founder James Watt has claimed he was trying to improve customer service when staff thought he was staring at them.
The Scottish beer firm boss was criticised in a BBC documentary which claimed he acted inappropriately towards workers.
But Watt said the direct accusation made against him in the show was when an anonymous employee branded him a “starer”.
He said: “Part of the claims involved me potentially staring at someone. I can guarantee you I didn’t.
“Our bars teams are very familiar with me observing service and thinking how to improve customer
experience.”
The BBC said: “We stand by the journalism which produced this investigative documentary.”
