Brentford to sanction goalkeeper exit while Yunus Emre Konak could leave

Brentford will let one goalkeeper leave the club on loan this month.

Mark Flekken will remain No1 for the second half of the season, but Standard Sport understands one of the Dutchman’s three understudies will be allowed to leave on a six-month loan in January in search of more game time.

The Bees will await loan offers for Hákon Valdimarsson, Matthew Cox and Ellery Balcombe before deciding which of the three will depart for the remainder of the season, but only one will.

The preference is for Valdimarrson or Cox to be the one to get first-team minutes elsewhere. Brentford chiefs pulled the plug on Balcombe’s season-long loan at St Mirren earlier this month in order to explore options for Cox and Valdimarrson. St Mirren had also been working on signing a new goalkeeper, which may have put Balcombe’s regular game time at risk if he had stayed.

Midfielder Yunus Emre Konak could also leave on loan.

A spell away from Brentford for midfielder Konak is also being actively worked on, with the Turk in need of more game time after making five cameos off the bench in the first half of the Premier League season.

Konak joined Brentford from Sivasspor last January, a day after turning 18, for a fee of around £4million.
