Brentford star seal new long-term contract until 2027 with option to extend deal

Brentford right-back Fin Stevens has signed a new five year deal at the club with an option of an additional year.

The 19-year-old was on the bench for a number of games in 2021/22, before making his Premier League debut for the Bees in the 4-1 defeat against Southampton.

Stevens joined Brentford in the summer of 2020, making his debut in the 3-0 win over Fulham in the Carabao Cup. He impressed in Brentford's 3-1 defeat against eventual FA Cup winners Leicester City in an unorthodox role at left-back. 2020/21 turned out to be a memorable season for the youngster, with Stevens winning the B Team Player of the Year award for his displays.

The 19-year-old will now join up with Wales' Under-21s ahead of matches against the Netherlands and Gibraltar on the 11th and 14th June respectively. Brentford director of football Phil Giles spoke on his delight of Stevens committing his future in TW8.

"He has made fantastic progress with his development over the last two seasons, and thoroughly deserved his recent promotion to the first team squad," he said.

"Bringing through players from the B Team is an incredibly important part of what the club does, so the new contract is another step towards Fin impacting our first team over the coming years. His immediate task is to start to play 90 minutes more regularly, which may involve a loan at some point, but for now he will return to pre-season with a full focus on breaking into the first team in the Premier League."
