Brentford defender Nathan Collins will miss Saturday’s Premier League meeting with Arsenal after suffering ankle ligament damage on international duty.
The 22-year-old picked up the injury while in action for the Republic of Ireland in Saturday’s 1-0 defeat by the Netherlands and has already returned to his club ahead of Tuesday's friendly against New Zealand.
Collins is also expected to be sidelined for the following weekend’s visit of Luton but the Bees are hopeful that the injury will rule the centre-back out for no more than a few weeks.
Brentford’s record signing arrived in a £23million deal from Wolves this summer and has started all but one of the club’s first 12 league matches, scoring his first goal in the 3-2 win over West Ham at the start of the month.
Meanwhile, Bees forward Neal Maupay says he is desperate to make his return to the club permanent when his loan move from Everton ends next summer.
The Frenchman endured a torrid spell at Goodison Park before being handed a chance to revive his career in west London on deadline day this summer.
“I want to stay here,” Maupay told Sky Sports. “I want to help this club in the Premier League and be part of its history.
"There is something special at this club between the players, the staff and everyone at the club. Everyone loves to be here, loves to work hard and there is very good togetherness. I'm sure we will have success this season.
"I love everyone here at the club and I feel really good. I feel I can be myself here. For now, it's a loan, but I will make sure I do everything I can to prove to Brentford that I can be here and stay a Brentford player for a few more years."
