Brentford fans were quick to remind Harry Kane of his World Cup woes as Tottenham travelled to West London to take on the Bees for their first Premier League game back after international duty.
Kane was guilty of missing a crucial penalty during England's 2-1 defeat by France at the quarter-final stage out in Qatar. The Three Lions skipper notched one from the spot earlier on in the game, but when Gareth Southgate's men needed to equalise late on for a second time Kane fluffed his lines.
The Bees faithful have not let the 29-year-old forget it, with choruses of 'you've let your country down' and ' Ivan Toney, he would have scored that' belting out around the Gtech Community Stadium early on during the early afternoon kick-off.
As with any England player who misses a high-profile penalty, there were fears over how Kane would emotionally deal with the fall-out of his error.
"It is a really tough night to take," Kane said on the night. "I am gutted, the team are gutted. We had full belief that we could achieve something special at this World Cup but it came down to small details.
"It is hard to take for sure but I can be proud of the group, proud of each other for what we've done. This will hurt for a while but we will dust ourselves down to get ready in the future."

It was uncertain whether Kane would feature from the start, but manager Antonio Conte backed his main man to recover mentally from his penalty nightmare during his pre-match presser.
"Harry for us is the most important player," explained the Spurs boss. "A world-class striker, breaking every record and I expect him to continue to do it.
"He's an important reference point for me, for the players, staff and the fans. He has had a good period to rest and he came back strong. He is ready to start again the second part of the season."
Thankfully from a Spurs perspective, the penalty blunder clearly hasn't had too much of an impact on Kane as the talismanic forward bagged a delightful header to drag his side back into the game after initially going two goals behind.
The goal actually ensured Kane registered yet another record, as the 29-year-old striker has now scored more goals on Boxing Day than any other player in Premier League history.
Kane has 10 goals in 10 Boxing Day outings, meaning he has netted at least one goal in every single game he has played on that day.
The header also marked Kane's 13th league goal of the campaign, meaning he remains second in the scoring charts behind runaway leader Erling Haaland who has bagged 18 goals in 13 league outings for reigning champions Manchester City.
