It was three consecutive league defeats for Brentford, as they went down to defeat against Manchester United.
The Bees dominated the first half and should have gone 2-0 up if it wasn't for Mathias Jensen being denied twice by David de Gea's legs as Brentford were all over the visitors, but were ultimately made to pay for their profligacy in front of goal.
United went into the break on level terms, and whatever manager Ralf Rangnick said at half-time did the trick as goals from Anthony Elanga, Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford gave Thomas Frank's side a brutal reminder what can happen if one doesn't take their chances.
football.london takes a look at some of the talking points from a frustrating night for the Bees.
Not taking their chances
It was another familiar story for Brentford, as they were unable to take their opportunities at crucial times in the contest. They really should have had United on the ropes by taking the lead, but they let them off the hook big time. The biggest winners of the first half were United, who went into the break on level terms.
This isn't the first time this has happened. The same thing occurred when Chelsea came twice to TW8, only for Edouard Mendy and Kepa to turn in big performances in goal. The home defeat against Brighton was also a familiar story, with Brentford dominating the Seagulls that day, but ended up losing 0-1 late on.
Wrong team selection
Ultimately, Thomas Frank made a number of changes which surprised many supporters alike. One of them was dropping Kristoffer Ajer for Mads Bech and whilst the latter performed well, this was a game the Norwegian should have started. Rico Henry was dropped for Sergi Canos, and the Bees missed Henry's acceleration down the left-hand side hugely, even if he only just came back from injury.
Mathias Jensen replacing Shandon Baptiste was also another bemusing decision, given how well Baptiste has been playing for the past couple of weeks. Jensen had the Bees' best opportunities to stun United, but blew them. Baptiste would have scored one of them, if not both.
A must win on Saturday
It doesn't get any easier for Brentford, as they welcome Wolves to TW8 on Saturday afternoon in what will be their final game before the break. The Bees did win at Molineux earlier on in the season, with goals from Ivan Toney and Bryan Mbeumo which gave Brentford their first away win of the season.
However, Bruno Lage's side are made of much sterner stuff and will fancy their chances against a Brentford side totally devoid of form at the moment.
