Brentford boss Thomas Frank could miss Everton FA Cup tie after testing positive for Covid-19

Brentford boss Thomas Frank may miss Saturday’s FA Cup tie against Everton after testing positive for Covid-19.

Frank received a positive test late last month as he prepared to return to training after the Premier League’s winter break.

The Dane has been unable to take sessions this week with other members of the first-team coaching staff leading the way instead, including for a behind-closed-doors friendly against Aston Villa on Tuesday.

Frank will return to work when he has submitted two negative Covid-19 tests, in line with the current Government regulations.

It means he could miss Saturday’s FA Cup fourth-round tie against Everton at Goodison Park, which will be Frank Lampard’s first game in charge of the Toffees.

If Frank cannot attend the game, then assistant head coach Brian Riemer will take the reins on Merseyside instead.

Frank has been in constant communication with his coaching staff all week and will speak to the media from home today via Zoom.
