Brentford boss sets David Raya price tag amid Chelsea, Tottenham and Man United transfer battle

Chelsea are one of a number of Premier League clubs monitoring Brentford star David Raya who could soon depart the Bees with his contract up in 2024. Raya has already rejected two new contract offers from his current club and has previously hinted at his desire to play European football.

The 27-year-old has been one Brentford's best performers this season making a number of crucial saves to help Thomas Frank's side consistently remain in the top half of the Premier League table. On Saturday, Raya made six saves to help the Bees secure an unlikely point at Emirates Stadium against league leaders Arsenal.

Raya has not been shy to engage in talk surrounding his contract situation in west London, with Chelsea joined by Tottenham and Manchester United in targeting Raya, according to The Telegraph. "I don't think it's the right time to sign a contract at the moment," Raya said. "I'm really, really happy and right now, I'm just thinking about doing the best for the team and trying to push for Europe.

"I was offered a new contract last year and one in January, but we didn't reach an agreement," he added. "For now, a new contract is secondary. The most important thing is the team and the games. We'll see where we are in May."

Speaking to Spanish outlet AS in January, Raya has hinted that a move could be on the cards in Brentford do not clinch European football. He said: "Every player has goals and wants to improve.

"Now I am focused on my team and in the summer, we will see what happens. If they want to do business, they will have to do it but there is a long season left and I am only focused on doing it well. In the summer, we will assess my situation."

Thomas Frank spoke on Raya ahead of the Premier League clash for Brentford against the Gunners where he sung the praises of his No. 1. The Brentford boss then delivered an honest update on his future floating a possible price tag teams would have to meet to acquire his services in the summer.

"If he turns it down twice that's a signal he doesn't want that," Frank said via Football Daily. "I thought we put two really good offers out there but that's fine it's a free world we can't force anyone.

"I hope he will stay forever of course that looks like it could be very difficult with the contract situation he must be at least £40million if not more."
