Brennan Johnson transfer demand as Nottingham Forest deal refused

A round-up of the latest Nottingham Forest news on Monday, June 26.

Forest set Johnson price tag as Villa and Brentford circle

Nottingham Forest have set a heavy price tag for Brennan Johnson amid transfer interest from fellow Premier League clubs.

The 22-year-old impressed during Forest's first season back in the top-flight, catching the eye of Aston Villa and Brentford. Johnson scored eight goals and assisted three times in 38 appearances during the 2022/23 season.

His form over the last 18 months has caught the eye of Brentford, who bid £30million for his services earlier this month. However, Forest are keen to keep hold of the Reds academy graduate and have set a high price tag.

Forest sent £100m message

A price tag of £60m for Brennan Johnson is not high enough for Nottingham Forest supporters, who would be reluctant to wave goodbye to the homegrown forward at any price.

A £30m offer from Brentford has already been rejected for the Wales international, but the Bees and Aston Villa are said to retain an interest. However, it would require a significant fee to convince Forest to part with Johnson, with the Sun reporting that a £60m valuation must be met.

Rangers’ stance on ‘slow burner’ Forest transfer

Any potential deal to see Nottingham Forest defender Jonathan Panzo sign for Rangers will be a ‘slow burner’, with a disagreement over the fee, according to latest reports.

Rangers have been heavily linked with a move for the 22-year-old this summer, with the player set to return to Forest this summer after a season on loan in the Championship. He reached the play-off final with Coventry City, but was unable to help them win promotion with the club losing to Luton Town on penalties.

Latest reports say that there are still talks between Rangers and Forest over the player, who looks set to leave the club this summer. However, a deal could now be harder to do.

Southgate sent Forest demand after ‘unreal’ impact

England manager Gareth Southgate has been told to include Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White in his upcoming England squads after the player’s performance for the U21 team on Sunday.

Gibbs-White was selected in the starting line-up for the Young Lions’ European Championship group game against Israel, where they were looking to build on a 2-0 win over Czech Republic. It didn’t take him too long to make an impact.

In just the 15th minute, the Forest man provided an assist for Everton’s Anthony Gordon to put England ahead. Gibbs-White then earned his second assist of the night when he set up Arsenal's Emile Smith Rowe to double England’s lead in the 68th minute.
