Brennan Johnson: Tottenham set medical after £45m deal agreed with Nottingham Forest on Deadline Day

Tottenham have agreed a package with Nottingham Forest worth £45million to sign Brennan Johnson.

The 22-year-old Wales international was on Friday afternoon en route to complete a Spurs medical, with personal terms on a long-term contract expected to be a formality.

Spurs had been locked in talks with Forest over the forward, with chairman Daniel Levy and Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis leading discussions and finally reaching an agreement with hours to spare ahead of Friday's 11pm transfer deadline.

Johnson is set to become Spurs's seventh signing of the summer after James Maddison, Guglielmo Vicario, Micky van de Ven, Alejo Veliz, Ashley Phillips and Manor Solomon, and will boost head coach Ange Postecoglou's options up front.

Postecoglou has wanted reinforcements following the sale of Harry Kane to Bayern Munich in a deal worth at least £100m, and Spurs were still working to land a midfielder and a defender before the deadline, with Chelsea's Conor Gallagher and Bournemouth centre-half Lloyd Kelly both targets.

Johnson will not sign in time to play in Tottenham's League game at Burnley on Saturday, with the squad travelling north on Friday afternoon.
