Nottingham Forest winger Brennan Johnson has not joined up with the Wales team ahead of their Euros qualifier vs Croatia, according to reports.
The Forest academy graduate was a doubt for last Friday’s 2-1 loss against Newcastle United with a groin issue picked up in the previous game against Tottenham. He was, however, passed fit for the clash and played the full 90 minutes.
It was revealed this week that Johnson was delayed in joining up with the Wales squad for the international break, due to undergoing further assessment with the medical team. The update said that the Forest man would join up with the squad on Thursday .

That, however, doesn’t seem to have been the case as the nation steps up their preparations for Saturday night’s encounter. Sky Sports report that Johnson is yet to join up with the squad, making him a major doubt for the clash against Croatia as well as Tuesday night’s game vs Latvia.
“The plan was that the Forest medics would assess his injury and then hand that over to the Welsh medics yesterday,” Sky Sports reporter Geraint Hughes said. “That has not happened, the Welsh medics have not had the opportunity to assess Brennan Johnson’s injury. He has informed them that he is not joining up with the camp.
“That is the information I have now, that Brennan Johnson has not joined up with the squad due to this groin injury.”
The extent of the injury is still not clear, but it will serve as a worry for Forest as well as Wales, with a number of key games in the fight against relegation coming up. The Reds host relegation rivals Wolves at the City Ground after the international break, a game that Steve Cooper will hope Johnson is available for.
The 21-year-old has been a key player for Forest in recent weeks and months. He’s scored seven goals and provided two assists in 27 games so far this season, excelling in his step up to the Premier League.
