Brenden Aaronson included in Red Bull Salzburg squad amid Leeds United links

Brenden Aaronson has been included in the Red Bull Salzburg squad for their game against FC Flyeralarm Admira amid reported transfer interest from Leeds United.

This is the Austrian side's third friendly since the winter break as they prepare for the restart of the league campaign which gets back underway in February.

Salzburg secured a 6-0 win over SKU Amstetten last weekend, before beating CV Reid 3-1 in midweek and they will be keen to make it three successive victories at Taxham Training Center.

Having started his side's recent victory, Aaronson has dropped to the bench for this afternoon's game, while fellow Premier League-linked Karim Adeyemi is starting up front.

Matthias Jaissle has rotated his team for the three friendlies to ensure his players get enough game time to be ready to tackle a hectic month, which includes the Champions League last-16 first-leg tie with Bayern Munich.

Aaronson is amongst a 12-man bench and is likely to be involved in some capacity despite being linked with a move away from the club in the January transfer window.

Leeds aren't giving up their pursuit of the USA international, even after seeing an initial £15million bid rejected on Tuesday and it's clear that Salzburg want to keep their star man.

However, the Whites have since come back in with an improved £20million offer and it hasn't been revealed whether that has been turned down yet.

Aaronson is supposedly keen on a move to the Premier League and Leeds seem interested in getting a deal over the line before the end of the transfer window.

It's easy to see why the Whites want to sign Aaronson, though, given his record since he joined the club from Philadelphia Union back in January.

The former Bethlehem Steel playmaker has scored 10 goals and grabbed 12 assists in 51 appearances in all competitions and his form has attracted interest from sides across Europe.
