Brendan Rodgers cut a frustrated figure on the sidelines at the Allianz Arena as Celtic were unable to capitalise on an impressive first-half performance.
The Parkhead side trail Munich 2-1 on aggregate after defeat in Glasgow last week but Rodgers' side were on top for large spells in Munich in the first 45 minutes.
Callum McGregor, Nicolas Kuhn and Daizen Maeda all had major chances to level the tie in the first half.

McGregor had raced clear after pinching the ball from Michael Olise in the first half but his fizzing strike narrowly cleared the crossbar.
A Jota cross then found Kuhn free in the box where he controlled and slotted past Manuel Neuer but Raphael Guerreiro was on hand to clear off the line.
Seconds later and Maeda was sliding in at the back post trying to poke home an Arne Engels cross but he couldn't connect.
