Brendan Rodgers is set to hold fresh talks with Celtic supremo Dermot Desmond today, according to reports.
The Northern Irishman is the frontrunner to replace Ange Postecoglou at Parkhead after the Aussie headed for Tottenham Hotspur last week.
Rodgers has held initial talks with the Celtic board, and the process is now said to be at the advanced stage as the Scottish champions aim to announce their new manager in quick time.
Rodgers departed Celtic for Leicester City four years ago, but was sacked by the Foxes in April and has since been without a job.
It has been reported that he was set to take a sabbatical from football, but Celtic are aiming to persuade him back into management.
The Sun say today that majority shareholder Desmond, who jetted into Glasgow yesterday, will sit down with Rodgers today for face-to-face talks over the vacancy.
Reports this morning suggest Rodgers' No1 priority is to make Celtic a Champions League force and he hopes the funds will be there for him to bring in fresh talent this summer.
Celtic are confident that Rodgers will accept a bumper deal to become manager in the coming days, and his return could be announced as early as this week.
Rodgers won all seven major Scottish trophies he competed for during his first spell as Celtic boss and completed an unbeaten campaign in his debut season of 2016-17.
