Brendan Rodgers tells Celtic cynics 'see you in May' as fan address turns into defiant silverware message

Brendan Rodgers has told his Celtic critics to come back to him in May as he prepares for a second stint at Parkhead.

The Irishman was unveiled on Friday afternoon after his three-year-contract to replace Ange Postecoglou as manager was signed earlier this week. There are sections of the Hoops support who are unsure on his appointment after mid-season departure for Leicester City first time around in 2019 prompted anger, and Rodgers has acknowledged it was a painful experience for both him and the supporters.

He has offered his regrets but insists those who still doubt should check in on the 22/23 Treble winners next Spring. In an address to fans outside the stadium, he said: "When I left here four years ago it was probably one of the saddest days of my life. I went on to a different challenge so I regret if anyone stood here or at home were hurt, as I know I hurt many people.

"But it's that very reason I am here today. So for those who are with me and always have been, let's enjoy the journey.

"For those who I need to convince, I will see you here in May. Thank you very much for coming, Hail Hail."
