Chuffed Callum McGregor has waxed lyrical about Brendan Rodgers' managerial chops after the pair were reunited at Celtic.
The Irishman has penned a three-year deal and his knack of developing players such as the now skipper were his calling card during his trophy-laden years in Glasgow's east end. McGregor enjoyed a strong bond with Ange Postecoglou but he is relishing reuniting with a man who helped establish his standing as one of the main men at Celtic.
And the current crop – mostly recruited by Postecoglou – have been told to get excited about what the 50-year-old will spark upon on his return. Speaking after Scotland's 2-0 win over Georgia, the Parkhead skipper said: "Yeah of course the guys at the top of the club have been working really hard and relentlessly to make this happen.
"You become aware of it probably the start of last week. And there's been a lot of chat, a lot of good work done to get it over the line. It's great we've managed to get him back and it's a real positive step for the club, a real statement of intent. The guys here from last time really enjoyed working under him, it was a successful period. And in terms of him coming back it's important we draw that line and it's about what we can achieve moving forward with the new group.
"He's a top level manager, his preparation and detail towards every game, training session, he's constantly thinking football and how to make the club, team and individuals better. He's had a brilliant track record of that everywhere he's been and the guys are looking forward to working with him at a close level and the guys who are still at the club, that'll be a really good coaching team.
"Continuity was the key message. The previous manager did a fantastic job but it helps that the excellent staff we had in the building who worked really well together. We wish Ange all the best but the message within the group was keeping continuity as we have a great group of staff who work tirelessly every day. That with the return of Brendan is really exciting times for the players and supporters."
