Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers says there have been no new fresh bids for Wesley Fofana amid transfer interest from Chelsea this summer.
The 21-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to the Blues in the transfer window after impressing for the Foxes since his move from Saint-Etienne in 2020. It has been reported that Chelsea are preparing a third bid for Fofana, although they have other central-defensive targets they are considering should that approach fail.
Leicester have already turned down two offers from the Blues for the highly-rated defender, with neither close to the Foxes' valuation of the player. The East Midlands club do not want to sell Fofana and are confident of keeping him after he signed a new five-year contract in March which runs until 2027.
When asked about whether they have received another bid from Chelsea, Rodgers said: "Not that I am aware of. There were two, but again, nowhere near what the club would even think about."
Fofana won the club's Young Player of the Year award during his first season at the King Power Stadium, having helped the Foxes to win the FA Cup and a fifth-place finish in the Premier League. However, the Frenchman suffered an unfortunate leg break on the eve of the 2021/22 campaign.
This kept him out until March of this year, before he made his return in the Europa Conference League against Rennes, where he scored a dramatic second-half leveller. Fofana went on to impress during the back end of the season and Rodgers has heaped praise on the player despite being linked with Chelsea.
Rodgers added: "The point to reiterate is that we are not looking to sell Wesley. He is not a player we are actively looking to sell but naturally if there is interest from other clubs, that is looked at by the club.
Will Wesley Fofana stay at Leicester City this summer? Let us know in the comments below!
"He is a top young defender. There are not too many about at his age. He is someone we would love to keep here but we will have to see what develops.
"Another year here for him at least would be really important for his development, but he is quite calm and relaxed in the situation. He is aware of the interest.
"He understands where we are as a club and where we see him. He’s just getting on with his work and training well, and whenever there is any communication we are able to have a conversation."
Despite the signing of Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli, another central defender remains a priority for Thomas Tuchel, following the departures of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen. Approaches for Manchester City's Nathan Ake and Sevilla's Jules Kounde have so far failed, with the latter joining Barcelona.
