Brendan Rodgers sends stark Premier League title warning to Arsenal ahead of Leicester clash

Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers has sent a Premier League title warning to Mikel Arteta and Arsenal ahead of the two teams meeting on Saturday. The Gunners sit two points clear at the top of the table and can stretch that gap to five by beating Leicester with Manchester City in action against Bournemouth later in the day.

The Foxes had been in impressive form prior to their defeat against Manchester United, scoring four goals in victories against Aston Villa and Tottenham to ease their relegation concerns. But that defeat to United means just four points now separate Leicester from the bottom three and they will be hoping to make a late charge for a European place starting on Saturday against the league leaders.

Arteta's men are coming off the back of a last-gasp win against Aston Villa and the Spaniard is expecting another tough clash away from home at the weekend. "They have been really consistent the last few weeks," he said in his press conference. "It is true Brendan [Rodgers] has proposed very different games in many different moments throughout the season.

"They have this capacity to adapt, different formations and playing different approaches. We have to prepare for both because it is possible and let’s see what they do tomorrow [Saturday].

Rodgers also spoke about the challenge that awaits his players at the King Power Stadium, but he also provided an interesting narrative of what Arsenal can expect in the late stages of a dramatic title race, having experienced it himself with Liverpool in 20414

"There’s definitely a change in emotion, that’s for sure," Rodgers said on Friday when discussing the final few weeks of the season when in a title race. "That’s the key aspect of it and we’re not really even at that stage yet.

"You see the excitement there with how Arsenal are playing and you sense the supporters feel they have an opportunity – which they do have.

"But it’s really not until you get to 10 games to go and then five games to go. If they’re still up there, which I believe they will be, then the expectation on everything and the emotion grows even more.

"If I look back on that it’s really about trying to manage those aspects. Because when you haven’t won the league for so long, then of course the closer it gets and the closer you are to it, naturally the supporters dream. So the expectation starts to grow even more."
