Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has revealed that Brendan Rodgers told him that he never wants to play against him again.
Some eyebrows were raised when the north Londoners splashed in excess of £24million on Ramsdale last summer, with the former Sheffield United shot-stopper expected by many to be Bernd Leno's no.2 this season. However, the 23-year-old replaced the German international in Mikel Arteta's starting XI for the fourth Premier League match of the 2021/22 campaign and he hasn't looked back since.
Registering 12 clean sheets across 30 league matches, Ramsdale has now established himself as an England international whilst being one of the Gunners' most important players over the last 12 months - helping them to fourth in the current standings. Now, he has revealed that Leicester City boss Rodgers claimed he is too good to play against following a wonder save during a 2-0 win against the Foxes back in March.

Speaking about the Northern Irishman on the Peter Crouch podcast, he said: "He (Rodgers) spoke to me after and said I don't want to play against you again, sort of thing." The former Liverpool manager watched Ramsdale make another stunning save against his side this season, when James Maddison's free-kick was spectacularly denied - a save that even left Manchester United icon Peter Schmeichel in awe.
And Rodgers has since claimed that the Arsenal star is the best English 'keeper at this moment in time. “For me he’s the best English keeper at the moment, Rodgers said earlier this year.
"I think he’s top,” His progression since he came to Arsenal, he’s playing for a huge club, different expectation with how to play football, I think he’s dealt with that really well.
“It looks like he’s come into the club here, he’s playing now with a calmness. We saw him earlier this season and he was jumping about, but now he’s got a really nice calmness to his game.
“He plays well with his feet, he makes saves, his save from Barnes looked in all the way, that was a great save and it kept Arsenal in front.”
