Brendan Rodgers reveals real reason behind Yang Hyun-jun's recent form

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed the real reason behind Yang Hyun-jun's recent form.

The South Korean has been in fine fettle of late and made an impactful mark on Celtic's 5-2 win over St Mirren on Saturday night.

Introduced with 25 minutes to go with the scoreline poised at 2-2, Yang came on and bagged a brace of clinical headers, as well as setting up Daizen Maeda with a fine ball over the top.

In his last five Celtic appearances alone, the attacker has contributed to six goals, and he averages a goal or assist every 55 minutes this calendar year alone.

Speaking after the Scottish Premiership champions' triumph last night, Rodgers lifted the lid on Yang's form: "I think it will help that his girlfriend's here at the moment," he said.

"So I said to the guys, see if we can keep her here! See if we can get that visa sorted!

"Everyone knows he's in a really good mood and he has been for a little while. He has two goals. His pass for Daizen Maeda’s goal to see it and then to execute it.

"Wow, what a pass. And like I said, he's a young player who's developing and improving. And like you say, he's played a really, really important role for us.

"There's obviously been starters ahead of him, but you need guys like this in your squad. And I thought he came into the game and was so direct. Gets into the areas, he was so good."

It has taken a while for Yang to find consistent form since joining Celtic back in the summer of 2023.

There is vast competition for minutes in the wide areas of Rodgers' squad, although the 22-year-old has undoubtedly proved he deserves considerable game time with his recent displays.
