Brendan Rodgers 'on verge' of stunning Celtic comeback

Brendan Rodgers is on the verge of completing his stunning return to Celtic, according to a report.

The Irishman is set to re-joined the Scottish champions just four years after leaving the club in 2019.

The Scottish Sun reports that Hoops chiefs held fresh, positive talks with the 50-year-old today.

And as a result, it is said that he will become Ange Postecoglou's replacement in Glasgow's East End.

They state that the highly experienced manager, who has been out of work since his departure from Leicester earlier this year, knows that the position is his to turn down.

Should the move go through, it will see Rodgers return to the club he controversially left mid-season for the Foxes in the February of the 2018/19 campaign.

Despite some fans still not forgiving him for his actions back then, Rodgers is the clear favourite for the gig.

And this report states that majority shareholder Dermot Desmond and chairman Peter Lawwell are growing increasingly confident of getting their man.

In his time, Rodgers delivered unrivalled success with seven trophies - including back-to-back trebles, while setting the club well on their way to a third.

Rodgers had planned to take an extended break from the game after his departure from Leicester in recent months.

However, as well as an approach from Celtic, he has options on the table at other clubs too.

But it's the Hoops who are pushing the boat out to tempt him back to Scottish football.

Desmond is hopeful of getting the deal over the line in the next few days.
