Brendan Rodgers 'not interested in Celtic return' despite job links

Brendan Rodgers is not interested in a return to Celtic to succeed Ange Postecoglou, a report has claimed.

The Scottish Sun report Rodgers - who is the bookies' favourite - is not interested in returning to Celtic currently with the timing deemed not right.

The former Leicester boss had previously commented that he would be keen to come back to Celtic in the future under the right circumstances.

But it's claimed he does not feel the timing is right to return despite Ange Postecoglou edging closer to a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

Instead, Rodgers is expected to take time out from management after being sacked by Leicester.

The manager is thought to be happy to spend time out of the dugout before considering his next role in football.

It comes after Rodgers' quotes over a Celtic return recirculated online on Monday with suggestions he could be in the running to replace Postecoglou.

Speaking previously on a possible return to Parkhead in the future, Rodgers said: "The club were keen to bring me in and they were in a moment where Rangers were close - they were getting promoted - and I went in and created hopefully a really good base.

"That challenge may come again because it was a real challenge to go in and that challenge may come in the future and I would have absolutely no hesitation going back.

"Incredible club but like everything in life it's just about timing.

"Whether I would be received back or not is a different story.

"But would I go back to Celtic? Absolutely."
