Brendan Rodgers has Rangers running scared already and the fear is making Celtic return more palatable – Hotline

It would seem Brendan Rodgers has been forgiven, even if walking out on Celtic in February 2019 hasn't been forgotten.

The Hoops support will welcome him back and in this mad wee corner of the world, the fact that Rangers fans are fearing - in their opinion - Rodgers' return makes his imminent appointment even more palatable. Gerard Kelly emailed: "If Celtic do sign Rodgers I will back it as I have faith in my club but he has to prove to us he is worthy of the job after leaving us last time. But to the Rangers fans on here saying he will see the real Rangers, where have I heard that before? Oh that's right, it was last August after we won the league!"

Robert McEwan, Mount Vernon, said: "Had a wee laugh at people on the Hotline. McGregor and Davis went back to Rangers after dumping them for money. Brendan coming back is like going out with Mama Jama, falling out, then start going out with Margot Robbie."

Henry Moffat, Stirling, said: "The sheer terror of Rangers fans as Brendan Rodgers and 117 unshared trophies comes into view is priceless. They are already saying that their manager will clean up against a much better manager with a budget £50m bigger than his. The pressure Michael Beale must be under from their delusional support must be immense."

Lance Little, Erskine, said: "So, Mr Picken thinks his team full of freebies and players bought on credit will have the new Celtic manager 'on toast'. He's hilarious and lives in his own little 'Bear Land'. Meanwhile back in the real world, Celtic have a far better squad, and that doesn't include any new signings, and will continue to dominate in Scotland."

Eddie Easson, Ballingry, Fife, said: "The knuckle draggers and so called diehard fans forever Celtic supporters on here need to get a grip. If you are a season ticket holder and aren’t happy don’t renew it give someone else a chance to get one. This happened many years ago when Fergus was there. The same protesters hung back when renewals were available and lost their preferred seat. Incidentally, I remember Fergus being booed when the club stopped 10 In a row."

Arrin Geddes, Irvine, said: "Brendan Rodgers would not be in my top 10 wish list but he will get my support 100% if appointed . The ‘Terminado’ press conference still remains fresh but players, managers, staff and directors come and go while the club is an ever present, unless it gets liquidated of course."

William Hutchison, Aberdeen, said: "I know a few Celtic fans aren't pleased about Brendan Rodgers coming back as manager...but give him credit as he knows some of the backlash he will get when and if he does but still isn't putting him off. The only way to win them over is to do again what he did a couple years ago...by winning trophies."

Neil Renton, Edinburgh, said: "I had to laugh at Celtic releasing their new away kit with tartan trimmings to represent their Scottish heritage. When did they replace their Irish one?"

The Rangers support was quiet but George Wilson, West Sussex, chipped in with: "As a Rangers supporter I am glad the Celtic manager jumped ship as soon as a big club came along. Unlike all the Celtic supporters I won't address him as Ange as if he was my best and lifelong pal who was going to be at Celtic forever. I am also glad Brendan Rodgers may be the new manager. He was only successful in Scotland before when Rangers were just back in the league. Just like Celtic have been for the last 20 years he was a joke in Europe with Lincoln Red Imps, Barcelona and Paris St Germain amongst his most notable embarrassments and he was sacked by the only two big clubs he joined at Liverpool and Leicester. Welcome back Brendan…until a big club comes calling."
