Brendan Rodgers left Welsey Fofana and Youri Tielemans out of his starting line-up for Saturday’s defeat to Southampton following rumours of interest from Chelsea and Arsenal.
The Blues and Gunners are, respectively, keen on the French defender and Foxes playmaker with links worth a combined £117million refusing to go away.
Speaking ahead of the 2-1 defeat at the King Power Stadium, which came courtesy of a Che Adams brace despite James Maddison’s fine opener for Leicester, Rodgers spoke openly of the decision.
Tielemans appeared to be dropped because of the Foxes’ move to a four-man defence, with the Belgian coming off the bench, while Fofana was left out entirely amid an apparent mentality problem.
“One, a change in system,” he told Sky Sports.
“And two, I mentioned in the week, we’re coming into a Premier League game and maybe we’ve got players who are maybe not quite in the right frame of mind.
“You can’t carry them, or certainly we can’t. So yeah, that’s the reason for the changes.”
