Leeds United can cross Brendan Rodgers' name off their list of prospective candidates for their vacant head coach job after the former Liverpool and Leicester City boss was reappointed by Celtic.
Rodgers, who was sacked by Leicester earlier this year, was linked to the post at Elland Road, with Leeds' incoming new owners 49ers Enterprises said to be keen on the 50-year-old as they look for a new head coach ahead of the upcoming Championship season.
But despite speculation that Rodgers was ready to take a break from the game, the lure of a return to Parkhead was too strong for him to ignore, with the club confirming on Monday afternoon that Rodgers has put pen to paper on a three-year deal as the club's new football manager.
That leaves Leeds continuing to search for Sam Allardyce's replacement, after the club confirmed earlier this month that the former Bolton and England boss would not be continuing in the role after he came up short in his four-match rescue mission at the end of the season.
Rodgers said that decision to move back north of the border was a straightforward one.

“I am really delighted to return to Celtic and I am hugely excited by this great opportunity," he told the club's website. "When I was given the privilege of being asked to join the club again, it was a very simple decision for me and my family.
“We have enjoyed some great times at Celtic before and this will be my goal again, to deliver good football, ensure we have a team we all love to watch and ultimately bring more success to our fans.
“Ange has done some brilliant work across the last two years and I will be doing all I can to maintain Celtic’s momentum as we face into all our domestic and European challenges.
“We have a hugely impressive and talented group of players and staff at the club, and I am really looking forward to meeting up with them all and then getting straight down to work.
“The club is in fantastic condition at all levels and I would like to thank the board for putting their trust in me to take the team forward. We will work very closely together as we strive to bring that success to our supporters.

Rodgers was consecutive trebles during his spell in charge at Celtic between 2016 and 2019, before leaving for Leicester City, where he lifted the FA Cup in 2021. A tough season at the King Power Stadium saw him leaving the club in April before the Foxes joined Leeds United in being relegated to the Championship.
