Beleaguered Brendan Rodgers could get more time at Leicester as reports in England suggest the Foxes aren't ready to sack him just yet.
Leicester have endured the worst start to a season in Premier League history with just one point from their opening seven games leaving them stranded at the bottom of the table. They've shipped 22 goals including six to Tottenham before the international break and many expected Rodgers to be dismissed before the Premier League returns next weekend.
However it's believed there is some sympathy at boardroom level for Rodgers, who led the Foxes to successive fifth-placed finishes in 2020 and 2021 and won the FA Cup the season before last. According to The Athletic, they haven't completely run out of patience with the former Celtic boss and could give him a chance to turn things around.
They face Nottingham Forest in a huge derby on October 3 and travel to face Bournemouth five days later. Having endured a tough start to the season on paper with Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Spurs all in their first seven games, it's claimed Leicester are willing to give Rodgers the chance to rack up some points against the sides near the bottom of the table to buy himself some time.
It's been reported it will cost the club somewhere in the region of £10million to sack him and that may be a factor in stalling the decision until October. But anything other than a win over Forest a week on Monday and it would be hard to see a way back for the Irishman.
