Brendan Rodgers drops major Celtic starting XI hint for Bayern Munich clash

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has dropped a hint surrounding his starting lineup for Wednesday's mammoth Champions League tie with Bayern Munich.

The German giants visit Parkhead in the first leg of the knockout stage playoff, with a spot in the last 16 up for grabs.

Electric frontman Daizen Maeda is suspended for the clash after he picked up a two-game ban for his red card against Young Boys a few weeks ago.

The Japan international netted a hat-trick against Raith Rovers last night and has six goals in his last three appearances.

Maeda is in fine fettle and will undoubtedly be a big miss for his side in the opening leg against Bayern.

When quizzed on the 27-year-old being unavailable for midweek, however, Rodgers remained calm.

Indeed, while the Celtic manager conceded not having Maeda is a blow, he dropped a hint over who could come in to replace him: "He's a massive miss," said Rodgers (Premier Sports).

"His pace will always hurt you.

"He's just so explosive.

"But, we have to accept that (suspension), and we'll play probably Jota instead."

Jota came on for the final 25 minutes of his side's 5-0 win over Raith Rovers last night.

It was his third cameo off the bench in a row, but he could now come in to make the first start of his second Celtic spell against Bayern midweek.
