Brendan Rodgers confirms double Leicester injury blow ahead of Manchester United fixture

Leicester will be without Wilfred Ndidi and Jamie Vardy for Saturday's match against Manchester United.

The international break is over and United return to action to play Leicester at Old Trafford on Saturday evening. United have been eliminated from all cup competitions and securing Champions League football is now Ralf Rangnick's only aim.

United are four points behind fourth-placed Arsenal and the North London club also have one game in hand. That means United can't afford to drop points at the rate they were before the international break across their remaining nine Premier League matches.

United lost 4-2 to Leicester at the King Power Stadium in the reverse fixture and they have a point to prove this weekend. Leicester will be without key players Ndidi and Vardy for the match, which should increase United's chances of beating the Foxes.

Brendan Rodgers, speaking at his pre-match press conference, confirmed that both players are sidelined with injury. “He [Ndidi] has had surgery and will be looking to get back in June. Papy Mendy has come in, we thought he was leaving last summer but has come back in and he’s always been professional.”

“He’s [Vardy] certainly not ready for the weekend. We’ll assess it over the next week.”

Rodgers confirmed that former United centre-back Jonny Evans will be available for the match.
