Brendan Rodgers began mending Celtic fences WEEKS after exit as he told the world of his never-ending Hoops love

Top target Brendan Rodgers admitted he would never have left Celtic if he used his heart to guide his football journey.

The 50-year-old is on the verge of saying yes to a Parkhead return four years after his controversial call to abruptly exit Glasgow's east end to join Leicester City. Many supporters are fascinated to hear the Irishman's opening address if he is confirmed as Ange Postecoglou's successor. A section of the support appear excited about his looming return, however, some believe an apology is in order. But Rodgers has been mending fences for over four years with one interview making clear his Celtic love affair did not end when he left for the Foxes.

Speaking to Soccer AM in 2019, he said: "Celtic, I've been a Celtic supporter all my life. Friends, family, it has always been my club. It was a really difficult decision I had to make from a professional perspective. I will always be a Celtic supporter, I will always be a fan and that will never change. Sometimes, in your life, you have your own personal challenges, your own personal goals and it may take you away, which it did do, but I had an incredible times with some great memories with supporters and family. It was an amazing time for me."

And Rodgers insisted if all thing were equal then thriving at Parkhead was his ultimate goal. And it appears he is primed to put those words into practice as he stands on the verge of a second stint as the manager of Celtic.

He added: "With your heart, I would always be there. Because, no matter where I have been in my life, I always look for the Celtic results and, when I could, I would get to games. That's in you from when you are young. The times that we had there, nearly three years, was absolutely amazing."
