Brendan Rodgers has agreed a deal to become the new manager of Celtic.
The Northern Irishman, according to Sky Sports, has put pen to paper on a 'long-term' deal and will make his return to the club which he left in controversial circumstances in 2019. After winning everything there was to win in Scotland, Leicester City came calling as the club pursued their 10-in-a-row dream, and the former Liverpool manager departed mid-season, with Neil Lennon eventually getting them to nine and a quadruple Treble.
But that hasty exit has left a bitter taste in the mouth of some supporters, but he will be the man who will take over from Ange Postecoglou ahead of the new season, after the Australian left Glasgow for Tottenham Hotspur. Celtic will be aiming for their third title on the bounce while they will also return to the Champions League group stages.
The new deal for Rodgers is said to be bigger than that of the contract he signed in 2016 and the 50-year-old will become the Scottish champions' highest paid manager once again. Sky Sports also claim there will be significant financial backing for the new boss, a sticking point in the Northern Irishman's previous tenure in Glasgow.
Rodgers is expected to be unveiled as boss this week, with some Hoops fans expecting to see the deal officially confirmed on Monday.
