Brendan Gleeson hails Golden Globe nods ‘sensational’ as he shares celebrations with son Domhnall

Brendan Gleeson has hailed his Golden Globe nods as ‘sensational’ and admitted it feels ‘doubly’ sweet to be able to share the celebrations with his son Domhnall.

The Banshees of Inisherin star is up for the golden gong in January alongside his fellow cast and crew including Kerry Condon, Colin Farrell, Barry Keoghan and writer-director Martin McDonagh, as the Irish dark comedy leads the nominations ceremony with eight nods on Monday.

And the luck of the Irish continued as his son Domhnall has also been nominated for the US awards for best actor in a supporting role in the TV series category for his performance in psychological thriller, The Patient.

He added: "Doubly so with my lovely Domhnall. Happy Days!".

His co-star Farrell, who was nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy, said: "What a team effort and a joy it was to bring The Banshees to life…to be able to celebrate with the whole gang like this and represent all the crew members who are watching at home, makes the whole thing all the sweeter!

The In Bruges award winner added: "As Brendan said, 'Happy Days' and thanks Golden Globes!"

Condon said she was ‘over the moon’ as she reacted to her nomination in the Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture.
