Brenda Edwards to return to Loose Women for first time after son Jamal's death

Brenda Edwards is set to return to Loose Women for the first time since her son's tragic death, it has been announced. The theatre star will appear on Monday's show (April 25) in a pre-recorded interview with Coleen Nolan.

Brenda's son, SBTV founder Jamal, died suddenly in February this year, aged 31. Entrepreneur and music pioneer Jamal was awarded an MBE in 2014 for his services to music and is widely credited for launching the careers of several leading British artists including Ed Sheeran and Dave.

Brenda, who appeared on the second series of The X Factor back in 2005 and is now a regular on stage, shared a statement hours after the news broke and has since returned to social media to announce a foundation in Jamal's name - The Jamal Edwards Self Belief Trust.

But on Monday, Brenda will speak about her loss on Loose Women for the first time. Good Morning Britain's Richard Arnold confirmed the news on the show this morning, telling viewers: "Today's edition of Loose Women will air a special interview with Brenda Edwards, who has been away from the show since the tragic death of her son Jamal."

Richard added: "Brenda has been taking time away from television to be with her family. This chat marks the first time Brenda has spoken on TV about the loss of her son."

A clip of the chat, which took place outside in the garden, was played and saw Brenda telling Coleen that she "needed" to come back to the panel and thanked her co-stars for being there for her during this difficult time.

"It has been great having the ladies there and that is something which has been a big part of my life, and the kids' life so I need to return," the 53-year-old said. "It's not even want to, I need to return. I've missed everyone but I thank you for supporting me, and being there at the end of the phone with me."

Coleen's interview with Brenda will air on Monday before Brenda takes her seat back on the panel live on the ITV lunchtime show on Tuesday (April 26).

Fans have already been rushing to show their support for Brenda after a clip of her chat with Coleen was posted on the show's social media channels.
