Brenda Edwards shares heartbreaking message with Loose Women after son Jamal's death

Brenda Edwards shared a heartbreaking message with her Loose Women co-hosts and ITV viewers after her son Jamal Edwards tragically died aged 31.

The Loose Women panellist, 52, shared a message with co-host Kaye Adams for ITV viewers after tributes and words of comfort have poured in following Jamal’s tragic death.

Kaye told viewers on Thursday’s show: “Brenda’s been in touch and she sincerely wanted to pass on to you at home that she’s been so moved by all of your messages and love and support.”

The 59-year-old presenter continued to say that the show’s producer had been on the phone with Brenda moments before the show went live.

She said: “Brenda was just saying that Jamal loved the fact that his mum was on the show. He was so proud of Brenda.

“They were so proud of each other and she really is taking comfort from the messages that have come from the show here and from you at home and a box of love will be coming to you Brenda from the studio crew as well.”

Kaye then turned to her fellow panellists Carol McGiffin, Denise Welch and Gloria Hunniford, saying: “It’s difficult. What can you say in these situations? I sat with my phone wondering, what do I say? What do I write? But it makes a difference.”

Gloria, 81, described the support she found in messages from others when her own daughter Caron Keating died at the age of 41 from breast cancer.

She said: “Those letters meant everything at that period of time, because it gives you great comfort that people loved your child, partner, mum or dad, whatever the case may be.

“So, thank you so much and keep sending her messages, it’s really important.”

She continued: “I believe having been through it, that losing a child takes you to a depth that you never knew that you had of sadness.

“To carry that child for nine months, to give birth to that child, to adore that child, it’s just unbearable to lose that child.”

Gloria said it has been “a very sad week” and her thoughts have been with Brenda since she learnt of Jamal’s death.

She said: “You at home have been amazing and Jamal was such a fantastic young man.

“Sometimes I think when your friend loses a loved one, some people say they didn’t know what to say but it means so much.”

The Loose Women paid tribute to the music entrepreneur and founder of SBTV with an emotional show on Monday, as Charlene White and Judi Love said they had been with Brenda after she received the devastating news.

Carol McGiffin, 62, joined them on the panel and said she had never done a show like that on Monday.

She said: “I’ve done over 1,500 shows over 20 odd years and I never thought for one second I would have to do a show that was that difficult. That I would have to do a show talking about one of us whose child had died the day before.

“I never thought I would be there and I was pretty speechless on Monday, because I really didn’t know what to say.”
