Brenda Edwards penned a powerful message to remember her son Jamal on the anniversary of his death.

The Loose Women presenter thanked her son for continuing to inspire her while referencing his mantra on Instagram. Brenda shared a compilation consisting of several photos of Jamal and a clip of her dancing, blowing a kiss to the camera.

The caption said: "Self Belief is my baby Jamal’s Mantra, this post is dedicated to my baby it’s been 1 year and yet it still feels like yesterday. I thank you for continuing to inspire me daily and for helping me to get my dreams together… this has been nearly two years in the making."

The groundbreaking record producer died after a cardiac arrhythmia brought on by recreational drugs at age 31. The news sent a shockwave through the British music industry with countless stars sharing their sympathies and heartache.

Ed Sheeran, one of Jamal's closest friends and colleagues, also remembered him today with a touching tribute shared on Instagram. Posting a photo of them both standing together, Ed said: " Can’t believe it’s been a year. Miss you every day, currently drowning myself in rum listening to tunes you loved xx"

Shortly after his death, the Jamal Edwards Self Belief Trust was organised to "support causes that mattered most" to him. Brenda said: "Jamal lived his life staying true to himself, providing a platform for all to showcase what made them special whilst encouraging all to believe in themselves to achieve their full potential.

"For the past 10 years, Edwards had spent Christmas Day helping at homeless shelters, and the charity now aims to set up ‘a network of Self Belief Houses’ to help those struggling with homelessness, with mental health and self-help programmes available.

"The foundation organisers also hope to open a ‘Self Belief Academy,’ which it says ‘will continue the mission started by Jamal of hosting specialised programmes aimed at helping young people from underprivileged backgrounds prepare themselves for adult life."
